We have been pleased to welcome several new members into our midst this May. Please take some time to get to know our new brothers and sisters in Christ.
DanYu Xu, who is known in English as Echo, is a novelist from China who came to study theology in Hyde Park. She came to us as a Lutheran and was thrilled to find a robust worship and intellectual faith life at Augustana. Her study is the intersection between faith and literature.
Calvin Krogh is a third year student at the University of Chicago. He is studying Japanese and preparing for veterinary school. He grew up in Hyde Park and attended Rockefeller Chapel.
Cassandra Guice comes to us as an associate member from St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany, New York. She is a national officer (parliamentarian) for the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs — a 116 year-old institution. She also is President of the Myra Hunter Reeves Culture Club, which is an NACWC club in Chicago.
Natalie Young Barnes returns to Augustana after having moved away for a time. She works at the U of C Hospitals. She brings with her Macy and Levin, her daughter and son. Welcome back, Natalie!
Alan Lightfoot comes to us from a history and education in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, where he served in the Acolyte Guild. He further trained and worked as a social worker. Alan is an organist and is also interested in social ministry.
Paul and Christine Fauske moved to Chicago following their retirement. Paul served as a parish pastor and in bible camp ministry in California, and most recently in Mercer Island, Washington, and as interim in Salem, Oregon. Chris worked in education and as a curriculum writer for Augsburg, and was President and CEO of the British American Business Council. They enjoy gardening and caring for grandchildren.
