Campus Ministry invites you to participate in a ministry to the prisoners in the state of Illinois. You can do your part by writing Christmas cards which will then be mailed to incarcerated people at Dwight, Lincoln, Decatur and Cook County prisons.
All you have to do is this: write messages on Christmas cards, put them in an envelope (don't seal!), and bring them to church on or before December 7th. Campus Ministry students will take care of the rest!
If you're wondering what to write, consider expressing care and concern in the following ways "We're thinking of you and praying for you", "God bless you and may you have a merry Christmas", or "You are not forgotten -- we are thinking of you at Christmas time and throughout the year."
For many people in prison, loneliness and despair can be especially acute around the holidays. For many, this card might represent the only contact
they've had with those "outside" in quite a while, or ever. Many feel forgotten and isolated.
Since there are more people imprisoned than ever before in the history of our nation, this is a good time for Christians to remember those in jail. Please consider participating in this important project, and remember to pray for imprisoned people everywhere.
